Find here a prayer for every day in July
1st July
Welcome July. New month, new chapter, new page and new wishes. May the month give you courage, strength, confidence, patience, self-love and inner peace. May every day in July fill your days with hope, love, sunshine and energy. Amen
2nd July
Loving God, we pray for those for whom life brings intolerable demands – those facing famine, fleeing as refugees, suffering persecution, enduring war, struggling injustice, terrified of the future, haunted by the past. Lord, in your love, put a new song into their hearts – a song of victory instead of defeat. Amen
3rd July
Loving God, receive our praise. We praise you that we have so much to thank you for – so much that is good, that brings us pleasure, that causes us to rejoice. We praise you that you are always looking to bless us, to help us celebrate life in all its fullness. Loving God, receive our praise. Amen
4th July
Living God, help us more truly live as your people. Give us a due sense of our responsibility towards others – the poor, the hungry, the sick, the homeless, the oppressed, the lonely, the weak, and the sorrowful. Teach us to respond by loving you and others. Amen
5th July
Almighty and sovereign God, we join together this morning once more to worship you. Yours is the hand that shaped the universe. Yours is the power that guides and controls the nations. Yours is the love that moves and works through all things. Yours is the purpose that has called us here, that has redeemed us from our sins, that has opened up the way to life, that has been mostly perfectly and wonderfully revealed in Christ. In the name of Christ our Lord. Amen
6th July
Living God, forgive us for those things we should have done but have left undone – the acts of kindness we never found time for, the thoughtful word never spoken, the message of encouragement or concern never sent, the helpful deed never attempted. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. Amen
7th July
Mighty God, we worship you. We offer you our praise. We bring you our joyful thanksgiving. We acknowledge you as Lord and master of our lives. Come amongst us this day with new power, inspire us with new vision, fill us with new hope, and send us out in your service with new purpose. So we may truly live and work for you and your kingdom. In the name of Christ our Lord. Amen
8th July
Living God, we need your love, your help, your strength. We need your mercy, your forgiveness, your renewing. We need your guidance, your encouragement, your inspiration. We need your support, your comfort your peace. In so many ways we need you, for without you our souls are restless, our destiny hopeless. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen
9th July
Living God, we thank you that you respond to our needs, reaching out with immeasurable love, with constant compassion, with unfailing goodness. But we thank you too that, incredibly, you are the God that has need of us; a God who has chosen to make yourself dependant on human co-operation. You need our faith, our trust, our commitment. You need our hearts, our minds, our souls. You need our hands, our feet, our actions. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen
10th July
Living God, we marvel that you need us as much as we need you, but we thank you for that great truth, that awesome privilege, that amazing responsibility. Help us to honour the trust you have placed in us, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen
11th July
Loving Father, we ask your forgiveness for so often being more concerned with the outside than the inside – for taking pride in external appearances whilst neglecting our inner selves, for putting on a good show with nothing behind it, for seeming virtuous on the surface whilst being full of ugliness underneath. Father God, hear our prayer.
12th July
Loving Father, help us to realise that beauty is more than skin-deep, that faith is more than simply appearance, that serving you is more than looking the part. Help us to understand that you see us as we really are rather than we’d like to imagine, that you see behind the masks we wear for the world into our innermost selves, that nothing can be hidden from your gaze. Father God, hear our prayer.
13th July
Loving Father, cleanse our hearts, transform our minds, renew our spirits and help us walk with Christ. Clothe us with joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, and, above all, love. So lead us, through your Holy Spirit, into the way of salvation. Father God, hear our prayer, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
14th July
Lord of all, we pray for all those whose responsibility it is to make decisions – especially in these difficult and ever changing times, give to all entrusted with such positions an open mind, the ability to make impartial and fair decisions, wisdom to discern the right way forward, and strength to bear their responsibility faithfully, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
15th July
God, stay with us on our journey of faith – revive us when we grow weary, direct us when we go astray, inspire us when we lose heart, reprove us when we turn back. Keep us travelling ever-onwards, a pilgrim people, looking to Jesus Christ who has run the race before us, and who waits to welcome us home. Amen
16th July
God of Life, may the promise of the sunrise be echoed in our minds. May the warmth of the midday sun flow through our hearts. May the sunset touch our souls. And when life seems dark teach us to remember even then you are with us, and that we will again see your light. In the name of Christ. Amen
17th July
Let the love of the Father course through our veins. Let the goodness of Christ pulse through our bodies. Let the power of the Spirit flow through our souls. Let the wonder of God resonate through our minds. Glory to God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and for all eternity. Amen
18th July
Almighty God, you call us to shine like stars in the world, to shed light like a lamp set upon a lampstand. Help us, and all your church, to fulfil at least a little of that calling – through our words, our actions, our living, and our loving, to share something of what we have received from you. Where there is darkness, let us bring light.
19th July
Almighty God, teach us to speak openly and honestly of our faith, not falling into the language of jargon or cliché, but testifying in our own words to what Jesus means to us. Teach us to work with our fellow Christians of all denominations and none, recognising the need to learn from one another, and working together in the cause of the Gospel. Where there is darkness, let us bring light.
20th July
Almighty God, teach us to love those around us, not simply other believers, nor merely in words, but to all people, and through actions that speak unmistakably of our sincerity. Where there is darkness, let us bring light.
21st July
Almighty God, it is easy to talk of being your people; much harder to live as though we are. Equip us and enable us to respond to that challenge, and reach out to the world. Where there is darkness, let us bring light, to the glory of your name. Amen
22nd July
Gracious and Loving God, we thank you for your great faithfulness, your wonderful and constant love, your care that is never exhausted, and your purpose that will not be defeated. Loving God, you have been our refuge from one generation to another, and we thank you.
23rd July
Gracious and Loving God, we thank you for the way you have chosen and called your people throughout history – Abraham, called to walk in faith to an unknown future; Moses, called to lead your people out of Egypt; the prophets, called to leave everything and follow Jesus Christ; and countless other individuals, called across the years and throughout the world to be your church. Loving God, you have been our refuge from one generation to another, and we thank you.
24th July
Gracious and Loving God, we thank you for that though your faithfulness has so often been returned with faithlessness, your love so often met with rejection, and your purpose so often frustrated, you have not let us go, but continue to call us your children, delighting in our response, poor though it may be. Loving God, you have been our refuge from one generation to another, and we thank you. Gracious and Loving God receive our thanks, and help us to follow where you would lead us. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
25th July
Almighty God, we thank you for your great gift of love – the love which we are able to share with those around us, which gives us a sense of self-worth and belonging, which enriches our lives in so many ways. You have opened your heart to us – help us to do the same to you
26th July
Almighty God, we thank you for your love which defies all expression, constant, total, inexhaustible, flowing out of us like a never-ending stream. You have opened your heart to us – help us to do the same to you
27th July
Almighty God, we thank you for loving us before we ever loved you, and for continuing to love us even when we fail to love you in return. Deepen our love for you and one another. Help us to be faithful and true in our relationships, and most especially in our relationship with you. You have opened your heart to us – help us to do the same to you, in the name of Christ. Amen
28th July
Lord of all, we pray for all who are searching for peace in their lives – those burdened with anxiety, either about themselves or their loved ones, facing difficulties and problems to which they can see no solutions. God of peace, reach out and still the storm.
29th July
Lord of all, we pray for those wrestling with inner fears and phobias, torn apart by emotional and psychological pressures. We pray for those living amongst change and upheaval, especially those who are threatened by violence and warfare. God of peace, reach out and still the storm.
30th July
Lord of all, to all those in chaos and turmoil, all who are restless and troubled, grant your calm, your tranquillity, your quietness, and your peace which passes understanding. God of peace, reach out and still the storm, in the name of Christ. Amen
31st July
To the one whose goodness is without equal, whose love is beyond comparison, whose mercy is beyond words, be praise and glory, worship and thanksgiving, now and always. Amen
