Find here a prayer for every day in May

1st May

Gracious God, Lord of all, we thank you that we can come to you in prayer, that for all your greatness, and wonder, and holiness, we can speak to you as a friend. We thank you that we can open our hearts to you, that we can pour out our innermost souls and share our deepest thoughts, in the knowledge that you are there, always ready to listen and understand.
Here now our prayer.

2nd May

Loving God, At the start of a new month, let us remember that you are the creator of the ends of he earth, source of all that is and has been and will be, giver of life. We praise you for the wonder of our world and for the vastness of the universe; for all you have made, and for the place you have given us within your creation. We marvel at the beauty and variety of this earth – its wonderful mixture of plants, animals, trees, birds, mountains, valleys, streams, oceans, and so much more besides. We thank you for everything that lifts our spirit, that moves us to wonder, that holds our attention, that captures our interest. Loving God, we thank you.

3rd May

Gracious God, we thank you that you are God who gives to us and goes on giving, day after day after day; a God who shared our humanity so that we might share your eternity, who offered your own Son so that we might become your children, who was ready to die for us so that we might live for you. For that amazing truth, we praise you.

4th May

Father, we praise you for the way that again and again you overwhelm us with your love and that you go on reaching down to us to lift us, to guide our steps and to help us begin all over again. We praise you for your demonstration of your love in Jesus; that your love for us simply knows no limits.
Amen.

5th May

Father, we praise you for the gifts and skills you have put into our lives, especially at this time. We thank you that we have eyes to see, ears to hear and minds to think. We thank you for all those inventions that make life easier and safer; for computers, cars, mobile phones, washing machines, wheelchairs, and heart monitors. Forgive us when we put our possessions before people, ourselves and our dreams before the needs of others. Forgive us whenever we put anyone or anything before you.
Hear our prayer and fill us again with your love and joy

6th May

Love never fails, even in the darkest moments, love gives hope. Love compels us to fight against coronavirus alongside our sisters and brothers living in poverty. Love compels us to stand together in prayer with our neighbours near and far. Love compels us to give and act as one. Now it is clear that our futures are bound together more tightly than ever before. As we pray in our own homes – around the country and the world – we are united as one big family. So, let us pause and find a moment of peace, as we lift our hearts to you in prayer.

7th May

God of heaven and earth, in these times of isolation, apart from loved ones, distant from friends, away from neighbours, thank you that there is nothing, in all of creation, not even coronavirus, that is able to separate us from your love. And may your love that never fails continue to be shared through the kindness of strangers looking out for each other, for neighbours near and far, all recognising our shared vulnerability, each of us grateful for every breath, and willing everyone to know the gift of a full and healthy life. Keep us all in your care.

8th May

Lord, you are a covenant God. Let us always remember that when we must make decisions, for ourselves or for our communities, you are central and always faithful. May we never shun you or forget your covenant with us but look for your eternal wisdom and guidance. Amen.

9th May

Almighty God, Forgive us for losing the sense of awe we once had. Forgive us for forgetting how great you are. Forgive us for bringing you down to our level, rather than rising up to yours. Forgive us the smallness of our vision, the feebleness of our worship, the weakness of our faith. Enlarge our vision. Deepen our faith. Renew our trust. Restore our sense of wonder before you. Teach us that you are a great God above all Gods, Lord of all nations, sovereign over space and time. Amen

10th May

Loving God, we thank you for all you have done in our lives – the ways you have taught us, helped us, and provided for us so wonderfully. Take us now, and lead us forward. We thank you for all you have done in our church – the fellowship you have created, the service inspired, the faith nurtured. Take us now, and lead us forward. Loving God, we thank you for our past, and we ask your guidance for the future. Help us to learn from everything that has been, so that we can make the most of what is, and work wisely towards what shall be. Take us now, and lead us forward, in the name of Christ. Amen

11th May

Merciful God, once more we bring you our confession, conscious of our many faults and failings – forgive us that we have been unfaithful to you. We have had eyes only for ourselves, seeing no further than our own small concerns – forgive us that we have been unfaithful to you. Day by day you have remained faithful to us – forgive us that we have been unfaithful to you. You have forgiven us our repeated disobedience – forgive us that we fail to forgive others half as freely. You have offered us your guidance in all decisions of life – forgive us that we have been slow to follow where you would lead. Help us to live more truly as your people, in the name of Christ. Amen

12th May

Wonderful God, in these strange and unprecedented times we ask you to give us the strength to keep strong. We ask to you pray for all of our friends and members who live alone, those battling long term health conditions. We give thanks for those contributing and delivering food for food banks, those volunteering to help those who are self-isolating, our ministers, local preachers, and worship leaders who are preparing and delivering services each week. In Jesus name we pray, Amen

13th May

Reach out, Lord, to those who are sick. May the compassion of Christ enfold them, the arms of Christ support them, the peace of Christ engulf them, the grace of Christ sustain them, the Spirit of Christ renew them, and the power of Christ make them whole. Amen

14th May

We give thanks for you love, grace and mercy, Heavenly Father that you pour out on us day by day. We pray that you will open our hearts and minds and become more aware of your love and care surrounding us. Please comfort all those in need of your love, in Jesus name. Amen

15th May

Living God, you have taught us through Jesus that our neighbours are not just those who live next door, or those who live nearby, but everyone, everywhere. And so now, once again, we pray for our world, our neighbours are near and far. Lord of heaven and earth, hear our prayer.

16th May

Living God, in these strange times may we all be reassured of your presence and love, not only for our church community but also our neighbours. We pray for all those families with young children, the scientists and technicians who are trying to find a vaccine for this deadly virus; inspire their research. We give thanks for the pastoral team who are keeping in touch with those who are on their own or don’t have access to services and friends online, to those who are putting together and posting digital worship and hard copies of services and prayers, enabling us to be together in spirit. Praise be to you now and forever, Amen

17th May

Heavenly Father, may a new society emerge from this crisis, with more regard and respect for your beautiful creation and for each other. May people come to know of Your steadfast, unchanging, relentless love for them.

18th May

Loving God, we are here in the name of Christ. We come to bow our heads, to lift up our hearts, and to offer you our praise. Help us to bear his name faithfully, and to live each day in the glory of his name. Amen

19th May

O Bless us Lord, The world struggles and people are afraid. Nobody knows what to do. Show us your will, O Lord. Reveal to our hearts the victories you won for us. Show us from where you delivered us before. Let us regain confidence in your grace and mercy. Amen

20th May

Thank you for loving me, for walking with me and for caring about the smallest details in my life. Fill me with grace, Lord, that I may have the strength to face what is before me today. I know not what today will bring, but make me ready, for whatever it may be.

21st May

Dear God, I know that I’m not perfect; I know sometimes I forget to pray. I know I have questioned my faith, I know sometimes I lose my temper, but thank you for loving me unconditionally and giving me another day to start over again.

22nd May

Oh Lord, You know my heart. You know I want to grow closer to You and spend more time with You, but sometimes I get so easily distracted. Teach me, Lord, how to be still. Like a Good Shepherd, lead me beside still waters. Quiet my soul. Bring order and calm to the chaos in my mind, so that I can spend time in quiet and joyful meditation with you. Thank you that you are willing and able to do these things, and that when I am weak, You are strong. Amen

23rd May

Happy morning, make the most of this day. Laugh, Love, Read, Live, Learn, Play, Dream, Be Happy. May your home be filled with Love, your mind with beautiful thoughts, your heart with beautiful intentions, and your life with an abundance of beautiful blessings today and always.

24th May

Lord Jesus, hear my prayer for the people I’ve already named. When I don’t have the words to pray, hear the prayers of my heart. Thank you, Jesus, for meeting me where I am today. I offer myself to you, Amen.

25th May

We give thanks for the salvation of mankind through the love and sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ, the wonder of how God is meeting our needs through these trying and unusual circumstances, for the rainbows on windows. We pray for those that have been touched by the virus, for the all those that are helping those in need, the continuing prayer and bible study online sessions, for our most vulnerable members who are in complete lockdown. May all of them know your presence with them. Amen

26th May

Saviour Christ, reach out to the lonely, those who wait for a knock at the door, a friendly face, a moment of company. However isolated they may be, teach them that you are by their side. Amen

27th May

Loving God, our world lies broken, fractured by prejudice, splintered by hate, scarred by fear, and for all our efforts we cannot make it whole. Pick up the pieces and bind them together, bringing healing where there is hurt and unity where there is division. Hear our prayer and meet us in our need. Amen

28th May

God of all, speak, we pray, through the bustle of supermarkets, both of your love but also of the needs and circumstances of others. Lord hear us, graciously hear us. Through shelves piled high with food, remind us how fortunate we are, how much we have to celebrate and thank you for. Lord hear us, graciously hear us.

29th May

Gracious God, once more we bring you to the life of our church. We ask for your guidance as we look to the future – help us grow in faith, in fellowship, and in numbers. Lord of your Church, hear our prayer. We ask for guidance in our daily living – help us draw closer to you, to learn more each day of your love, and to show the truth of what we believe in our lives. Lord of your Church, hear our prayer.

30th May

Dear Father God, it’s another beautiful day, thank you for bringing us safely to another blessed morning. It was Your Goodness and Your Mercy that woke us up this morning and Your Love and Protection that will see us through the day.

31st May

Almighty and sovereign God, great and wonderful, all-powerful, all loving, all-good, all-forgiving, once more we make time to worship you. We come to remind ourselves of all you have done – your mightily acts across the years, your coming to our world in Christ, your transforming of countless lives won for him.
