Tingley Methodist Church doubles as both a place for worship and a place for community gatherings.
We have many internal and external groups that use our space as a place to gather and hold meetings, activities, or just join together for a biscuit and a cup of tea.
We welcome anyone who wishes to worship with us on a Sunday morning whether they be in attendance every week, or just join us for our special services. No matter how frequent of a visit you will always be made welcome in our congregation.
Our Mission & Development Plan
We are basing our mission and development plan around the Methodist Way of Life and the stations on that journey, this is a living document and we hope it evolves and changes over time to help us grow and develop.
Worship (Worship, Notice, Pray)
With God’s help we will :
- Continue to offer and develop regular worship, being open to meet the needs of our existing membership but be open to new ways of worship
- Continue to provide and build upon “Be Still”
- Focus and increase the importance of prayer both individually and collectively as a worshipping community both for ourselves and the wider community
- Celebrate, host and encourage the Circuit Prayer Quilt ministry
Learning and Caring (Care, Learn, Open)
With God’s help we will:
- Continue to develop and deepen our pastoral response both within the worshipping community and in the locality
- Encourage and enable the deepening of our discipleship through small groups in fellowship, membership and study
- See beyond ourselves and see how we can impact God’s missional activity by listening and responding to where God is at work and be willing to embrace or lay down as we prayerfully discern
- Strive to have a continued and greater impact within the local community
- Build on relationships started within Junior Church
Service (Serve, Flourish, Challenge)
With God’s help we will:
- Continue to offer Soup Bowl, Friends Café and a Young People’s facility
- Maintain an active calendar of social events
- Offer our facilities prayerfully to the wider community balancing the needs of the church and community
- Continue to link and sponsor through our charities
Evangelism (Share, Live, Tell)
With God’s help we will:
- Work alongside other communities to share God’s love
- Develop and increase our confidence in sharing God’s love through being and speech
- Increase and develop our links with our local Schools
